Question 1

Do you deliver bulk material to Ottawa County?

Accepted Answer

Yes — mulch, screened topsoil, compost, decorative stone, gravel and sand, delivered by the cubic yard or the ton to addresses in Ottawa County and across Ottawa County. We run the same trucks to Holland, Jenison, Grand Haven and Hudsonville. Whether a specific address is in range comes down to the drive from the yard that serves it, so the delivered price is worked out once you enter the address.

Question 2

How much mulch do I need for a bed in Ottawa County?

Accepted Answer

One cubic yard covers about 108 square feet at three inches deep, which is the usual depth for a bed. The arithmetic is square feet × depth in inches ÷ 324 = cubic yards. Measure the bed, or use our calculator, and round up — you can always spread the last of it a little thicker, and a second delivery costs another delivery fee.

Question 3

What gravel should I use for a driveway in Ottawa County?

Accepted Answer

21AA is the MDOT-spec dense-graded limestone most West Michigan drives are built on. It packs hard and sheds water; 22A is the same idea with more sand in the blend. Order by the ton for gravel; weight, not volume, is what limits the truck.

Question 4

What is the ground like around Ottawa County?

Accepted Answer

Lakeshore West Michigan sits on glacial sand plains. Ground drains fast, which is easy on delivery access in spring but hard on beds — sandy soil sheds water and nutrients, so compost and screened topsoil get ordered alongside mulch rather than instead of it. Double-shredded hardwood is the default bed cover here, and 21AA is what goes down on the long rural driveways between towns.

Question 5

How soon can you deliver in Ottawa County?

Accepted Answer

Southern Michigan yards generally load from early spring through hard freeze. The spring rush runs late April into June and is when lead times stretch; autumn is the quietest, easiest time to get a next-day drop. Once you order, the job goes straight to a local yard and you are told the date it confirms for. Your card is authorized when you order and only charged once a yard has confirmed the load.

Question 6

Where will the driver put the material?

Accepted Answer

In one pile at the end of the driveway by default, tipped from the truck. Tell us where you want it in the drop instructions when you order and the driver works to that, as far as access allows — a loaded dump truck needs a straight run at the spot and around fourteen feet of overhead clearance. You do not need to be home, but the spot does need to be clear of cars.

Question 7

How is the delivery price worked out?

Accepted Answer

From the actual driving distance between the yard loading your order and your address, in mileage bands, multiplied by the number of truck trips the load needs. It is shown as its own line before you pay, not folded into the material price or added at the last step — delivery is often a third of a bulk order, and it is the number most suppliers hide.
