The things people ask before their first load.

What is a cubic yard, really?+

A cube three feet on every side — 27 cubic feet. Dumped, it is roughly the footprint of a compact car and about three feet tall. One cubic yard covers about 108 square feet of bed at three inches deep.

How do I know how much to order?+

Measure the bed in square feet, pick a depth (3 inches is typical for mulch), and use the calculator on any product page: square feet × depth in inches ÷ 324 = cubic yards. When in doubt, round up — a partial load still sends a whole truck.

Why is delivery shown up front instead of at checkout?+

Delivery is 20–40% of a bulk order. Hiding it until checkout is where most carts die, and it is the single thing we set out to fix. We price the real driving distance from the serving yard to your address and show it on the ticket from the first screen.

Why is my card authorized but not charged?+

We're a broker — we don't own the material, so we can't guarantee it the instant you click pay. Your card is authorized (held) at checkout and only charged once a local yard confirms it can deliver. If no yard can, the hold is released and you pay nothing.

Do I need to be home for delivery?+

No. You tell us where the pile should go — top of the driveway, side yard, a tarp — and the yard dumps it there. Most orders arrive within 24 to 48 hours of a yard confirming.

What if the delivery truck can’t reach the spot?+

Give clear drop instructions when you order, and make sure the path is clear and firm. Trucks are heavy; we avoid soft ground, septic fields and low utilities. If access is tight, note it — the yard would rather know before they roll.

Do you deliver to my area?+

We deliver across Michigan today, with more counties coming online as we add yards. Enter your address anywhere on the site — if a yard can reach you, you'll see a price; if not, we'll tell you honestly and add you to the list.

Is the estimate the same as the final price?+

A ZIP-code estimate gets you close. A full street address prices the exact drive and locks the number — that is the price you pay. Rural ZIPs span 20-plus miles, so the street address matters.
